Do numbers make you nervous? Math anxiety is a very real problem for many, but a recent study has discovered that some math-anxious students manage to perform in spite of their fears. The study, published in the journal Cerebral Cortex, examined a group of students with math anxiety as they completed a series of difficult problems. They found that several students within the group were able to score nearly as well as their non-anxious peers. These students showed an ability to manage their initial stress reactions, regulating the negative emotions and moving past the anxiety, allowing them to focus and complete the problem in front of them.
